Name"Drink Less" programme
The "Drink less" programme is being implemented since 2002 by The Programme on Substance of the Public Health Agency of Catalonia in collaboration with other expert organisations. Its aim is to reduce risky drinking and alcohol-related problems affecting the population attending the primary health centres (PHC). 367 PHC are involved. In order to get an early intervention and brief intervention for risky consumption, the programme provides the PHC professionals with training and suitable support instruments for consultations.
The main aim is to reduce risky drinking and alcohol-related problems affecting the population attending the PHC.The main objectives are to increase screening and brief intervention rates by increasing awareness among the health professionals on the importance of hazardous and harmful alcohol consumption. In addition to that, the project aims at raising awareness on the risks of hazardous and harmful drinking among population attending PHC.

Scientific: Drink Less programme was born in 1995 in the frame of the collaborative international WHO project on "Alcohol and Primary Care". It follows the training and support model elaborated in the context of Phase III of the WHO Collaborative Project.

Number of referents of the Drink Less programme was 724, number of PHC centres with referents was 357, alcohol screening at the PHC was 50 %, hazardous and harmful drinking at the PHC was 2 %.
Annual evaluation with an ongoing improvement of the indicators collection process. The DAFO technique was used for an exhaustive analysis.
